Notarial services
Contacting us when you need a
notary
Our clients occasionally need to have documents notarised. Notaries are
mainly involved in authenticating documents and information for use
overseas.
Victor
Warner is the notary public at Anderson & Company. A notary
public is a member of a small legal profession, independent of
solicitors and barristers.
If you need the services of a notary or have any questions about this
service, please contact Victor Warner by email or telephone (020 8892 0092) or Mark Anderson
by email
or telephone (01865 858 878).
Type
of work undertaken by a notary
The services of a notary are
often necessary in the following situations:
- making applications to, or
registering with, official bodies regarding transactions or events (for
example when applying for overseas patents and other intellectual
property)
- the preparation and the
witnessing of powers of attorney for use outside the United Kingdom
- authenticating company
information and the status of company officers and representatives (for
example, the existence and good standing of a company or the capacity
and authority of a director)
- certifying that agreements have
been validly executed under English law
- certifying copies and
translations of documents
Fees
Notarial work is charged for on the length of time taken (charged at £160 per hour). In
practice the simplest and most routine notarial tasks are usually
dealt within 20 to 30 minutes (approximately £53 to £80). For
common documents (such powers of attorney) the time involved required
is usually 30 to 60 minutes (£80 to £160), and will depend, for
example, on
the amount of discussion needed with the client, the number of
necessary changes to the
document, and the requirements of the particular country where the
document
is going to.
Many
commercial clients prefer to have documents notarised at their
premises. We
are happy to make appointments to do so.
