Advice in relation to commercial and scientific activities

We advise clients who are at different stages of development, from well-established private and public companies and universities, to start-up companies and individuals seeking to establish a business or research venture.

Much of our work is concerned with drafting, negotiating and advising on agreements, although we also advise in relation to certain types of dispute and give more general, commercially-focussed legal advice.

Later pages break down our work into areas of law, and types of agreement. The following paragraphs give an overview of some of the commercial activities on which we typically provide legal advice.

Typical areas of work and advice might include:

  • Drafting and negotiating computer, IT and web site agreements
  • Confidentiality agreements, materials transfer agreements, letters of intent with other companies
  • Drafting board resolutions, etc. in relation to signature of major agreements
  • Advising on commercial disputes, including IP ownership disputes, disputes over the scope of licences already granted, disputes over performance under agreements
  • Advising on termination and settlement agreements
  • Undertaking legal due diligence work in relation to corporate transactions, particularly on IP and commercial aspects
